Kyichu Monastery
The Kyichu Temple is one of the oldest temples in Bhutan and it is located in the fertile valley of Paro. The monastery was built in the 7th century by the Tibetan Emperor Songtsän Gampo. It is believed that two orange trees in the courtyard of Kyichu Lhakhang bear fruit throughout the year. In 1971 the Queen mother of Bhutan built a Guru temple next to the old temple. The Kyichu Monastery is around five kilometers from Paro town and well connected by road.
